About

A small firm with a specific argument about data risk.

Insight Sphere works with insurers, financial services, regulated businesses and AI teams who need to be honest with themselves about where their data quality risk actually starts. Then we help them do something about it.

About Insight Sphere

A specialist consultancy with one clear thesis.

Insight Sphere is a small Australian advisory firm. We've spent years building data strategies, maturity roadmaps and the kind of analytics that actually link what an operation does to what it produces. We work across government, higher education and industry, mostly in places where data has to do real work in regulated, high-stakes environments.

Our craft sits in probabilistic modelling, risk frameworks and decision intelligence. Less about dashboards, more about whether the evidence behind a decision will hold up when it has to.

We bring all of that to a single argument: data quality risk is mostly shaped by where the data came from and how much control you had when it was made. That argument runs through every engagement we take on.

So when you engage Insight Sphere, you're getting a small, opinionated team with a specific way of seeing data risk, and a set of practical methods built to do something about it.

Dr Claudio Arancibia-Ibarra

Director & Founder, Insight Sphere
Seventeen years of building the data work,
not just talking about it.

Claudio's career spans seventeen years across government, higher education and industry. He builds data strategies, maturity roadmaps, and analytics that join what an operation does to what it actually produces. The deeper craft is in probabilistic modelling, risk frameworks and decision intelligence.

He has led cross-functional teams, presented to boards, and coached executives on using evidence to make decisions. Past projects include production and food-safety risk tools, KPI frameworks, and automated pipelines in regulated settings.

He holds a PhD in Applied and Computational Mathematics and still publishes on modelling, uncertainty, and real-world performance. The academic work and the consulting work feed each other. Neither sits in isolation.

Our Approach

How we work, in four ideas.

Most data quality work, in most organisations, sits downstream of the risk. It cleans, it reconciles, it monitors. Useful work, but not enough. Insight Sphere gives leaders a way to talk about, measure and govern the risk closer to its source, before it has had the chance to harden into a model output or a regulatory finding.

Underneath that is a body of applied practice we've developed over years of work in regulated, data-intensive businesses. Some of it is published, some of it is in our books and ongoing research, and most of it shows up in how we run our engagements.

Source-aware risk classification

A practical way of telling the data you produce and control apart from the data you've inherited, and being honest about what that difference does to your real risk.

Source and transformation analysis

Looking at how data origin and processing state combine to create risk categories that most frameworks never see, including the hidden risk in polished external data.

Governance readiness review

A structured readiness review of whether your governance capability is calibrated to the source-control risks you're actually carrying, with a clear gap view and remediation sequence.

AI input & assurance advisory

For AI systems that depend on data the organisation didn't produce. Covers both whether the system can work reliably and whether the assurance story holds up to a regulator.

Why Insight Sphere Exists

There was a gap, and someone had to do the work.

Insight Sphere exists because the structural gap was visible from the inside, and someone had to build the thing that should already exist.

From the inside of regulated, data-intensive businesses, the pattern is hard to miss. Organisations invest heavily in cleansing, lineage and reporting, but the risk that actually trips them up tends to come from the data they didn't produce, didn't control, and quietly trusted anyway.

The approach behind Insight Sphere was built to close that gap. Not as theory, but as a working set of methods and engagements. We exist to keep building it, keep applying it, and keep arguing that source-aware thinking should be a normal part of how serious organisations govern data.
